A thorough assessment of each client is carried out at the start of an exercise and nutrition programme and a range of information is gathered including a number of measurements. This is to ensure that I can create an exercise and nutrition plan based on the unique circumstances and characteristics of each client. Some of the measurements taken include;
- Calculating the VO2 max – cardiovascular fitness level
- Metabolic Rate
- Blood pressure
- Circumference body measurements
- BMI
- Resting heart rate
- Body fat percentage
- Muscle mass
- Muscle strength
- Range of movement
These measurements provide an overview of my client's overall health and wellbeing and ensures that they are safe to exercise. We can then create an exercise and nutrition plan which takes all of this into account but is based on their goals and interests. It also ensures that people can see for themselves, the progress they have made. I carry out these measurements every 4-8 weeks so clients can see the positive impact that the training and nutrition changes have had on their health.
